Greetings from Chef Jacques |
|
We’ve waited long enough – the weather is finally nice enough for outdoor dining on our terraces. You can eat outdoors at L’Auberge or downstairs at Jacques’ Brasserie, as long as weather and space permit. Our organic, kitchen gardens are an easy stroll from either terrace, if you’d like to see where the salad greens for the entire restaurant are being grown. You’ll also see that the tomatoes are coming in and we’re just a month away from fresh, tomato salads from the garden.
We have some very special events this July, including my favorite, our Bastille Day Celebration featuring Louis Latour wines and the famous Waiters’ Race around the grounds; the return of fabulous Wolf Trap Young Filene Opera Singers; Devils Backbone Craft Beer Cooking Demo and Luncheon, Neyers Wine Dinner, and a first with Chef Jacques hosts a visit to Virginia Wineries and Luncheon. An action packed special event month, indeed!
A quick note of gratitude to our patrons: one Saturday in May we set a record for the busiest night ever at Jacques’ Brasserie. Opening a casual brasserie at the restaurant was a long-held dream of mine that finally came to fruition in 2011. When I opened the Brasserie, I couldn’t have imagined the positive response and popularity that would follow. I’m grateful to all of the regulars who come in and make the brasserie the cozy, bustling place that it is. Watch for our new Brasserie Brunch being launched very soon on both Saturday and Sunday; think Crêpes Suzette, Tarte Flambées, Benedict and a variety of farm fresh and garden herb omelettes! Mais Oui Cheers and merci beaucoup.

We are honored to host on Sunday, July 10th at 6:30apm the Wolf Trap Opera’s Filene Young Artists’ second performance at our Musique et Cuisine series. We are reminded that Catherine Filene Shouse, Wolf Trap’s visionary founder and gourmand, was a frequent guest who dined with Papa Haeringer at L’Auberge almost every Sunday afternoons for many years.Wolf Trap Opera’s Filene Young Artists have performed on some of the country’s premiere operatic stages, including Houston Grand Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera and The Metropolitan Opera. They bring some of the brightest vocal talent to Wolf Trap’s stages every summer, and now, to L’Auberge Chez François! They will provide an evening of popular standards, light opera arias, and Broadway tunes, in addition to Chef Jacques’ six-course garden inspired menu paired with three fine Sommelier chosen wine pairings. |

L’Auberge Chez François Presents Neyers Wine Dinner |
|
At L‘Auberge Chez François, the marriage of French and American gustatory experience is central to what we do, so we are pleased to host a wine dinner on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 6:30pm that reflects a similar cultural meeting. Bruce and Barbara Neyers produce some of the most appealing wine in California, with a French sense of balance and place. Please join us as Bruce comes to Great Falls to present some of their finest offerings, including a chardonnay that is rich yet fresh, without oak; a lively Rhône-style blend showing juicy red fruit and herbs; a zinfandel that delivers fully-ripe fruit without high alcohol; a silky, aromatic merlot; and a pure, dense cabernet sauvignon with a whiff of cigar-box that recalls Bordeaux. We are thrilled to welcome both Bruce and Barbara for this very special dinner.
