Greetings from L’Auberge Chez François and Jacques Brasserie:

The upcoming holidays are here at L’Auberge Chez François and Jacques’ Brasserie; our favorite time of the year. Even though this year feels a little bit different, we remain committed to making your dining experience safe, yet still a magical one you will remember. 

The extraordinary holiday decorations are being put into place. Our three fireplaces will be roaring inside to warm you and, for those who love cozying up outside, our firewood is stocked for our Jacques’ Brasserie fire-pit. On our specialty cocktail menu is our hot spiced mulled wine and spiced Virginia ciders, perfect for warming the soul. 

We’ve added our famous pumpkin mousse cake to the dessert menu this month, and Papa’s traditional yule log will be available just after Thanksgiving.  We’ve also added a series of meals ‘Chez Vous’ (To Go), so you can enjoy our meals from the comfort of your own home if you choose.

Our November premier, socially-distanced events are nearly sold out (we have just a few tables remaining at our Grand Boisset Wine Tasting & Dinner next Thursday), but we will be releasing our December events lineup very soon. 

As a friendly reminder, we have taken several additional measures in our restaurant. All of our dining options are in socially-distanced rooms (seven feet and more) with high ceilings and new HVAC upgrades. Our dedicated staff, in masks and gloves, limit interactions to only those that are necessary. We are following recommended safety protocols by the CDC to keep your dining experience safe and enjoyable. To view our in-person dining holiday schedule and hours of operation please click here.

For dinner, our first seating from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm will feature our Traditional 7-Course New Year’s Eve Dining Experience. Our second seating from 8:15pm to 9:15pm, will feature a very special

Greetings from L’Auberge Chez Francois and Jacques Brasserie:

We’ve had a lovely season serving al fresco on our two terraces and on our grounds, and I predict a few more weeks of excellent outdoor dining (a chef’s weather predictions are always more accurate than the weatherman’s). Summer produce will remain with us for several more weeks as well. I’m still making my famous tomato salad from the garden. If you haven’t yet made it out to dine on the terrace during these warmer months, there is still time for a summeresque, safe and socially distanced meal outside! We’d love to have you.

Our garden is flourishing and producing wonderful herbs and vegetables. Green and purple basil,tarragon, chives, mint, sorrel, sage, lemon verbena and shiso round out the herb section. All vegetables and herbs are harvested and served the same day. We are growing hops and getting ready to harvest for Papa’s Pilsner, in collaboration with Brewmaster, Matt and our friends at Lost Rhino Brewing Company. We will begin planting fall crops including kale, kohlrabi, rutabagas, cabbage, spinach and several types of fall lettuces in the coming weeks.

It’s great to continue, as per your request, a full slate of special events here at L’Auberge Chez François, and we look forward to the next installments of the popular musical garden brunches, this month with the talented Alex Barnett and our music and cuisine series, featuring the wildly popular Prince Havely. Additionally, L’Auberge Chez François will be hosting delectable “L’Auberge Chez Francois Goes Italian Wine Dinner”. Enjoy the rest of your summer and hope to see you soon!

Team Member of the Month

This month we honor Marlon Posada as employee of the month, who joined L’Auberge Chez Francois in October 2016.  Marlon started off as a dishwasher, but he quickly moved from the back of the house to a front of the house as a busboy. Marlon is a very quiet and soft spoken young man, but he is a hard worker and an excellent team player. He is  well regarded by all of his peers as well as our guests! Thank you Marlon for the excellent job!

Summer celebrations and special occasions are up and running at full speed at L’Auberge Chez Francois and Jacques Brasserie. Drum rolls and champagne toasts!

Since June 18th, 2020, we have been open for lunch and dinner service every day except Monday and Tuesday with our “Celebrating the Classics” menu (check out our website to view!).We are thrilled to now offer, as per your request our very popular special events, including Music and Cuisine Dinner Series, Musical Brunches, Garden to Table Dinners, and Sommelier Wine Dinners.  Make sure you check out our newsletter and website for updates as seating is limited and sells out quickly. We offer our regular reservations in the dining rooms, under Le Grande Tente on our terrace, and in Jacques’ Brasserie and outdoor pavilion. (All of course socially distanced and more!).

The menu and décor at the popular Jacques’ Brasserie are a special tribute to our founder, Papa Francois Haeringer, who opened the original Chez Francois in Washington, D.C. in 1954. The décor you see in the Brasserie are part of the Haeringer family’s heritage and legacy.Our delectable a la carte Jacques’ Brasserie Lunch and Dinner menu will be both offered inside the Brasserie and at Jacques’ Custom Outdoor & Covered Pavilion. Bastille Day Recap

Our Bastille Day celebrations were a little different this year, but it didn’t stop our fun celebrations! Our socially-distanced outdoor festivities were a blast, and Jose won the waiter’s race for the 2nd year in a row! Special guest Napoléon, Neil Ruane, Export Manager for Boisset Collection Wines (in full costume), kicked off the race with the ancient art of sabering. The lively soiree continued in our lovely tented garden terrace with a toast our homeland’s independence and a six-course featuring produce harvested directly from our on-site gardens, kicked off by, of course, the French National Anthem. A great day had by all at this sold out event!
