August 2020 Newsletter





Greetings from L’Auberge Chez Francois and Jacques Brasserie:

We’ve had a lovely season serving al fresco on our two terraces and on our grounds, and I predict a few more weeks of excellent outdoor dining (a chef’s weather predictions are always more accurate than the weatherman’s). Summer produce will remain with us for several more weeks as well. I’m still making my famous tomato salad from the garden. If you haven’t yet made it out to dine on the terrace during these warmer months, there is still time for a summeresque, safe and socially distanced meal outside! We’d love to have you.

Our garden is flourishing and producing wonderful herbs and vegetables. Green and purple basil,tarragon, chives, mint, sorrel, sage, lemon verbena and shiso round out the herb section. All vegetables and herbs are harvested and served the same day. We are growing hops and getting ready to harvest for Papa’s Pilsner, in collaboration with Brewmaster, Matt and our friends at Lost Rhino Brewing Company. We will begin planting fall crops including kale, kohlrabi, rutabagas, cabbage, spinach and several types of fall lettuces in the coming weeks.

It’s great to continue, as per your request, a full slate of special events here at L’Auberge Chez François, and we look forward to the next installments of the popular musical garden brunches, this month with the talented Alex Barnett and our music and cuisine series, featuring the wildly popular Prince Havely. Additionally, L’Auberge Chez François will be hosting delectable “L’Auberge Chez Francois Goes Italian Wine Dinner”. Enjoy the rest of your summer and hope to see you soon!

Our covered terrace will be the perfect place for a relaxing and uplifting musical brunch on Sunday, September 13th, 2020 at 11:00am, featuring the music of classical guitarist Alexander Barnett. Chef Jacques has created a superb Sunday brunch menu for you to enjoy, accompanied by special brunch cocktails, of course, as you enjoy the afternoon’s music. Our travel plans are cancelled, but aroma and flavor can still take us to far-away places. Join us for a tour of Northern Italy through wine and cuisine, Friday, September 25th. From the rolling hills of Prosecco and Valpolicella in the Veneto, to the steep sea-side terraces of Liguria, the foggy Alpine foothills of Piemonte, and more, we will taste the fruit of the Italian sun. Our sommelier, Alex Bardsley, will be your tour guide, and our “Grande Tente” will be the perfect place for a relaxing Chef’s Jacques’ delectable six course Italian-themed repast, featuring five sommelier-chosen exquisite wines from Northern Italy.

Team Member of the Month

This month we honor Marlon Posada as employee of the month, who joined L’Auberge Chez Francois in October 2016.  Marlon started off as a dishwasher, but he quickly moved from the back of the house to a front of the house as a busboy. Marlon is a very quiet and soft spoken young man, but he is a hard worker and an excellent team player. He is  well regarded by all of his peers as well as our guests! Thank you Marlon for the excellent job!

Monsieur François Competition


Congratulations to Mehrnaz M. of Sterling, Virginia for winning the August Monsieur François Profile Embellishment Competition. Mehrnaz will receive a $200 gift certificate to L’Auberge Chez François. Great work, Mehrnaz!
