Please join us for another in our series of sommelier-curated wine dinners, this one focusing on the wines of the Jura and Savoie in eastern France. Made from grape varieties most Americans have never heard of, such as Jacquère, Savagnin, Altesse, Poulsard, Trousseau and Mondeuse, these wines are mostly consumed in the region and in neighboring Switzerland to the east, while Burgundy and the Rhône to the west get all the glory. For the most part delicate and fragrant, both reds and whites express their own personality along with the character of their hilly homelands. Our sommelier Alex Bardsley AIWS has chosen six wines to offer a taste of the different styles of the region.
